June 7th is World Food Safety Day, aimed at raising global awareness about food safety. Recently, food poisoning incidents in Taiwan have once again drawn public attention to food safety issues, highlighting the importance of food safety information and prevention.
Professor Yu Ping from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University utilized Taiwan Communication Survey (TCS) "Risk and Disaster Communication" (2016), to examine the impact of the two most prevalent media—television and the internet—on how the public responds to risks. The study found that frequent reception of food safety information from television increases perceptions of susceptibility and severity regarding food safety risks. Moreover, the higher the perceived severity of the risk, the more likely individuals are to share food safety information offline.
