How do you usually handle disagreements with your partner?
A Panel Study of Family Dynamics survey asked married or cohabiting respondents across Taiwan to select all that apply.
The results show that most respondents reported they will try to communicate, yet the proportion of those who chose the "Cold War" is nearly as high.
Only a negligible proportion of respondents reported behaviors escalating beyond verbal disputes, such as throwing objects or physical altercations.
Meanwhile, there is an interesting gap in how respondents perceive their own behaviors and those of their partners:
They tend to think their partners are more emotional than themselves. Whether regarding emotional outbursts, judgmental attitudes, or more severe escalations, the prevalence of perceived partner behaviors consistently outweighs that of self-reported occurrences.
